About the Indiana Veterans’ Home:
Located in West Lafayette, Indiana, the Indiana Veterans' Home (IVH) offers long-term skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, independent living, and memory care services to honorably discharged Indiana veterans and their spouses. New in 2018, IVH is now accepting Gold Star parents!

Salary Information:
The starting salary for this position starts at $25,766.00

About the Job:

As the Food Service Worker, you will be in the food service department of the Indiana Veterans' Home.  You will have moderate supervision and reports to the Food Service Supervisor 5.

A Day in the Life:

The essential responsibilities are:

  • Assist in food preparation.
  • Help serve food.
  • Maintain sanitation, safety and security standards.
  • Demonstrate effective work attitude.
  • Use time effectively.
  • Follow policies and procedures of IVH.
  • Do dishes using proper procedures.
  • Sweep and mops floors.
  • Take food carts to proper floors.
  • Clean kitchen.
  • Mentor and train new state and contract staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to demonstrate residents likes and dislikes on diet cards.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy objects.
  • Ability to produce simple foods.
  • Ability to train new employees.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
     

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
