IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

 

Role Overview:

The Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) is seeking a motivated individual to serve as a LAN Administrator Intermediate in a mobile position that will include support to offices in Vermillion, Parke, and Vigo counties. The admin will complete service calls for customers on all IOT assets, will provide all desktop software/hardware support, and will support other IOT teams with needed operations/asks in the field.  This also includes support within the best effort process when working with contractors that have equipment that access state resources or network. Other duties assigned include completing refreshes for the PC Refresh Team, completing reconnects/moves for the Network Team with sites that are remodeling or relocating, and assisting Security with various asks on securing/remediating equipment that fail security protocols.  The admin also will assist agencies with repairs/replacement of equipment that is in the customer agency; for example, the credit card machines used in the BMV branches.

 

This is a field-based position serving Vermillion, Parke, and Vigo counties. Residency in the service area is preferred.

 

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $55,224 but may be commensurate with education and job experience.

A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities include: 

  • Install network software/hardware. 
  • Set up servers and monitor the network to ensure performance status. 
  • Ensure that loops on event servers, either preventative or scheduled, are performed. 
  • Ensure that all preventive maintenance is performed. 
  • Act as a liaison for other departments/divisions in providing troubleshooting for all types of programs. 
  • Perform studies to define solutions. 
  • Provide integrated customer support to all users on system design and implementation. 
  • Assist in the evaluation of new products/technologies to determine impact on existing systems.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. 
  • Specialized knowledge of network operating systems, designs, and protocols. 
  • Specialized knowledge of local area network concepts. 
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programming, including computer languages, database design, work process charting and testing of programs. 
  • Specialized knowledge of technology equipment, including operating characteristics and limitations. 
  • Working knowledge of operating systems. 
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols. 
  • Working knowledge of distributed systems management software. 
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Ability to read and understand complicated technical manuals on hardware, software, LAN design, and administration. 
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
