About Rockville Correctional Facility:

As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Rockville Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry.  We strive to model best Correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The Rockville Correctional Facility is an intake and medium security facility for adult females. Rockville Correctional Facility is located in Rockville, Indiana. The Department of Correction developed the facility from an Air Force base into a juvenile male facility, to co-ed, and now to adult females alone, making it the largest female facility. The Rockville Correctional Facility serves as the intake unit for women in the Department of Correction, which involves a series of assessments to ensure each incarcerated individual is assigned to the facility and programming that best meets their needs. Incarcerated individuals have multiple educational and vocational training opportunities, including cosmetology, parenting support and a partnership with Televerde that includes training and work opportunities inside the facility and post release.

 

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

​The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Provide supervision to a multidisciplinary team (Unit Team) of professional correctional staff that are responsible for the custody, control, and delivery of services to the offender population of the unit or complex.  
  • Review all incoming case management policy and procedural information for decision on distribution.  
  • Monitor Casework Managers for adherence to policy and procedure using routine Continuous Quality Improvement Assessment. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the unit team and other departments within the facility. 
  • Assist the administration with evaluating proposed custody, treatment, or other programs in the housing units or the facility-at-large. 
  • Disseminate, interpret, and enforce facility policy and procedural information among offender population. 
  • Perform duties assigned by the Deputy Warden or Warden according to instructions and procedures. 
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development. 
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.  Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) 
  • At least three (3) years of work experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field. Substitutions: Each one (1) year of related education may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. 
  • Must test negative on all drug screenings. 
  • Ability to document and maintain records as it pertains to the ACA standards. 
  • Ability to conduct effective training classes and on the job training. 
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage the work of the staff. 
  • Ability to establish a working relationship with staff and offenders. 
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize conflict resolution techniques. 
  • Ability to assess individual performance of subordinate staff and to positively contribute to overall staff development and training. 
  • Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow. 
  • Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets. 

 

You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment: 

  • Within 90 days of hire, must obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS) Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services. 
  • Successfully complete all mandatory training including the DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses Knowledge of IDOC, institutional policies and applicable state and federal laws applicable to area of responsibility and unit team management. 
     

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
