About the Richmond State Hospital:

Richmond State Hospital is about the people we serve and the community relationships we have developed dating back to 1890. Richmond State Hospital is a public behavioral health facility operated by the state of Indiana and one of six state psychiatric hospitals within the Family and Social Services Administration Division of Mental Health and Addiction. As part of a newly integrated system of state psychiatric hospitals, we serve consumers across the state as the Eastern Center of Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Services.

About the Job:

As the Maintenance Repair, you will be responsible for the position being requested is the maintenance and repair of property facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and vehicles.  Without safe and well-kept facilities and equipment the property cannot operate at the high standards that are required.  Some of your responsibilities include maintenance to structures, repairs to utilities, maintenance of equipment and vehicles, and repairs to our infrastructure and facilities.   

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Diagnose and repair various maintenance issues.    
  • Maintain service and maintenance records.  
  • Purchase required parts, tools, and supplies according to State policy.  
  • Repair buildings and structures.  
  • Assist with snow removal.

What You'll Need for Success:

This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Working knowledge of various trades including masonry, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.  
  • Working knowledge of radio communications and procedures.  
  • Working knowledge of appropriate safety precautions needed for a variety of repairs.  
  • Ability to use a variety of automotive, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical tools for routine maintenance and repair.  
  • Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of records. 
  • Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.  
  • Ability to work independently and provide self-motivation.  
  • Ability to read and follow guidelines and blueprints to complete construction projects.  
  • Applicant must maintain a valid driver’s license.  

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
