About Plainfield Correctional Facility:
The Plainfield Correctional Facility is a medium security facility that was established in 1964 as the Indiana Youth Center (IYC). The facility houses over 1300 adult males assigned here from any of the 92 counties in the State of Indiana.  Plainfield Correctional offers a sex offender program along with other treatment, including vocational, academic, and volunteer strategies designed, in accordance with its mission, to facilitate a more successful habilitation program and, even more importantly, a successful community re-entry. It employs over 350 staff from diverse backgrounds coming from several countries. 


Salary Information:

This role starts at a base salary of $39,650.

As the Maintenance Repair Supervisor, you will be responsible for the supervision of all assigned maintenance in a state facility.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Establish and implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Inspect grounds, buildings, and equipment to assure proper operations.
  • Ensure all tasks meet regulatory laws and agency policy and procedures.
  • Maintain work order logs and estimate project needs.
  • Direct and supervise all subordinate staff.
  • Plan and coordinate projects with staff and/or outside contractors.
  • Write justifications and specifications for parts and equipment.
  • Monitor and assess the job performance of subordinates.
  • Ensure part and supply orders are complete and accurate.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Must possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or must obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Broad knowledge of the practices, methods and standards of the trade.
  • Broad knowledge of local, state and national codes and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to analyze projects in terms of materials, man-hours and cost.
  • Ability to use a variety of specialized tools and measuring devices.
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and trade regulations.
  • Working knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
This role provides supervision for offenders and requires a high level of judgment and care.
