About the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board:
The Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board is the governing body of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, located in Plainfield, Indiana. The Board is comprised of 17 members, who have been appointed by the governor. The board sets the requirements and criteria for the basic training of law enforcement officers throughout the State of Indiana, which became mandatory in 1972.

 

Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $28,366.00 per year but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

About the Job:

You will serve as a Records Clerk for the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) responsible for processing and maintenance of records of police officers in the State of Indiana.  Functions in a clerical support role as the agency Records Clerk responsible for the maintenance of law enforcement personnel training records. 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating Law Enforcement Training Board certified instructor files/records in Acadis
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating Law Enforcement Officer records in Acadis
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating Law Enforcement Training Board Certified Provider files/records in Acadis
  • Responsible for maintaining mandated annual training reports for assigned departments
  • Responsible for processing public records requests
  • Operate multi-line telecommunication system to receive, place, and/or route calls
  • Accurately compose messages and distribute them to appropriate internal and external customers
  • Scan, verify, and release documents into the electronic records database
  • Serve as Receptionist/Switchboard relief on a rotation basis
  • Other clerical duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Working knowledge of and ability to operate a multi-line telecommunication system
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and comprehend new computer programs
  • Must have general knowledge of clerical procedures, methods, and principles
  • Must possess above-average observation skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure using diplomacy, courtesy, and tact
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment including typewriter, computer, copier, scanner, and fax.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
