About Pendleton Correctional Facility:

The Pendleton Correctional Facility is a maximum security Correctional facility, of adult males. The Pendleton Correctional Facility is located in Pendleton, Indiana. At Pendleton Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals can participate in educational courses that teach them to read and allow them to earn a GED.  Incarcerated individuals can receive substance abuse treatment, participate in parenting classes, stress and anger management courses, and can even learn vocational skills in auto body repair and printing.  


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

 The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Routinely check, clean, and repair belts, equipment, pumps and all alarm systems for proper functioning and readiness for use. 
  • Determine malfunctions in a variety of equipment and make appropriate repairs. 
  • Perform pipefitting and plumbing tasks required for Steam Plant equipment including steam and water lines. 
  • Perform mechanical repairs on trucks, front-end loaders, elevators, conveyors, and other mechanical equipment. 
  • Assist Steam Plant Supervisor in annual overhaul and cleaning of boilers, condensate return system, packing of valves and servicing diesel and electric motors and engines. 
  • Operate or assist in the operation of the plant during emergency or peak periods. 
  • Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE). 
  • One (1) year of work experience in steam plant maintenance or repair of various types of steam plant equipment or completion of an accredited vocational training program in a related area OR two (2) years of work experience in plumbing or maintenance trades. 
  • Must obtain within twelve (12) months, the Facility Operator 3rd Class certification. 
  • Must test negative on all drug screenings if the position is placed in IDOC. 
  • Ability to use specialized skills in providing plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs. 
  • Working knowledge of and skill in use of a wide variety of basic and specialized hand tools required for repair of steam plant equipment. 
  • Ability to determine malfunctions of Steam Plant equipment and to make repairs. 
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand schematics to determine function of equipment. 
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
