The salary of this position starts at $35,698.

About The Job:

The Institutional Teacher provides instruction in orientation and mobility skills to students with visual impairments.

A Day In The Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Provide instruction based on acceptable practice that addresses each student's Individual Education Plan goals and state standards where appropriate;
  • Assess student needs, document student progress and report progress to parents quarterly via IEP updates;
  • Assume responsibility for student safety during instruction;
  • Lead or participate on school improvement committees;
  • Assist with supervision of co-curricular events
  • Provide information to students in their appropriate communication mode.

What You'll Need For Success:
  • Valid Teacher’s license or emergency license through the State of Indiana
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education;
  • Certification in area orientation and mobility;
  • Certification or willingness to acquire within three years certification, in area of visual impairment.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

If this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
