About Logansport State Hospital:
Logansport State Hospital is a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness.  Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community.


Salary Info:

Salary: This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of  $17.80. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.


This is a part-time position.

About the Job:

As the Radiographer, you will be responsible for taking and evaluating x-rays and electrocardiograms (EKG) of patients at a State hospital, to help assess and diagnose illnesses and conditions. In this position, you will ensure the safety of the patient and ensure all equipment is working properly.  

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Review and evaluate developed x-rays, video tape, or computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. 
  • Conduct electrocardiogram (EKG) tests to record patients' cardiac activity, using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, or laboratory instruments. 
  • Operate or oversee operation of radiologic or magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. 
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. 
  • Position imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination. 
  • Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan. 
  • Order and maintain all supplies and equipment for x-ray and EKG areas.  
  • Perform maintenance and repair to x-ray equipment as necessary or contacts vendor for repairs.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Must have a current Radiography licenses from Indiana Department of Health. 
  • Knowledgeable of and the ability to select suitable techniques and equipment to provide quality x-ray and EKGs examinations with maximum safety to patients and staff. 
  • Practical knowledge of facility, state and federal rules governing radiation control and use of equipment to ensure safety of patients and staff. 
  • Working knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. 
  • Practical knowledge of quality of x-ray films and processing procedures. 
  • General knowledge of fluoroscopic techniques. 
  • Ability to operate, understand, and repair x-ray, EKG, and processing equipment. 
  • Ability to prepare a variety of inventory and activity reports and to maintain files and records. 
  • Ability to work with mentally ill and/or non-ambulatory patients requiring this role to deal with uncooperative or combative patients or patients with communications or motor disabilities. 
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and communicate effectively.
