About Logansport State Hospital:

Logansport State Hospital is a state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults with mental illness. Using an interdisciplinary approach and evidence-based programming, we promote recovery and return of the individual to the community. 

 

Salary Information:

The salary is commensurate based on experience.

 

About the Job:

The Behavioral Clinician performs highly technical work under professional supervision involving the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of patients or inmates assigned to a mental health or correctional facility.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Administers and scores individual psychological tests
  • Interprets and reports on psychological test data under supervision
  • Observes and interviews patients of inmates being evaluated
  • Conducts group testing
  • Writes reports concerning patient or inmate behavior
  • Confers with other staff members regarding psychological data
  • Compiles and analyzes test and program data collected for the purpose of research and continuous program functioning; under supervision evaluates research data and assists in preparing research reports.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • The candidate must have a Master Degree from an accredited college or university in any of the following fields:  Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Addiction Counseling.
  • Considerable knowledge of the concepts, principles and methods underlying relevant branches of psychology such as social psychology, clinical psychology, child psychology, developmental psychology, neurological psychology and psychopathology
  • Basic knowledge of, and ability to apply; the principles and methods of psychometrics, statistics and scaling methods
  • Working knowledge of, and ability to apply, interviewing and counseling skills
  • Ability to determine appropriate approach to routine problems without supervision
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
