This position traditionally starts at $41,574 per year and may be commensurate with education and work experience.

About the Job:

You will serve as a Health Educator for the Adjutant General’s Office Wellness Center.  You will work as a team member in a dynamic group that delivers primary preventive services to a diverse population. You will participate in providing six core programs (health assessment review, physical fitness, healthy nutrition, stress management, general wellness education, and tobacco education) as part of the standardized Adjutant General’s Wellness Center program.  You may be required to work out of Lawrence, Stout Field, or Camp Atterbury locations as directed by the H2F Program Manager.    

A Day in the Life:

​The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Conduct evidence based health promotion programs based on behavioral change theories; provide health coaching, and knowledge of basic health science, health psychology, basic nutrition, exercise programming and counseling techniques.
  • Conduct exercise testing using various protocols to measure fitness levels for cardiovascular, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.  
  • Conduct and apply various health behavior strategies necessary to move individuals and groups towards adaption of long term health habits.  
  • Collect, compile, analyze and report program outcomes to customers. 
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with other organizations in the community
  • Work independently and as a team member to deliver primary preventive services to a diverse population.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a health education, health promotion, exercise science, or allied health field closely related to health and wellness.  Additional credentialing and training is required to enhance the skill of the Health Educator.  It is required that the Health Educator has a nationally recognized credential in health and wellness or obtains such designation within six months of employment. At a minimum, a certified personal training credential from ACSM, Cooper Institute, NSCA or other organizations meeting the NCCA will be reviewed and may be accepted as the primary level of certification for this position.  
  • Experience in exercise testing using various protocols to measure fitness levels for cardiovascular, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
  • Experience in applying various health behavior strategies necessary to move individuals and groups towards adaptation of long term health habits. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other agencies in the community; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, establish priorities and work in an organized manner; 
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well in a fast paced team environment. 
  • Specialized knowledge of agency organization and function.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to work independently or as a team as the situation dictates.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
