Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites

Web & Digital Communication Manager

The Web & Digital Communication Manager will work as part of the marketing and communication team to help implement the Indiana State Museum & Historic Site's (ISMHS) overall marketing and communication strategies with primary focus on design, development, content entry, maintenance and functionality of the organization's website. Additionally, this position will develop a digital communication strategy that includes the design, distribution and tracking of all online communications for the ISMHS, including member and stakeholder e-newsletters.

A day in the life

•  Seek out information on ISMHS programs, events and daily experiences through regular interaction with colleagues to facilitate content and a schedule of regular content updates for website.

•  Serve as liaison to ISMHS’s technology partners with proven ability to troubleshoot and fix web/online problems.

•  Create an annual plan that supports the continued growth and development of the website design and architecture. Work with vendor to implement website changes.

•  React appropriately to Google Analytics to help inform a more robust and engaging web user experience.

•  Seek out information on ISMHS programs, events and daily experiences through regular interaction with colleagues to determine strategy behind an effective and engaging e-communication plan.

•  Develop, implement and oversee an annual plan for e-marketing that shows steady rise in user engagement and continued growth in subscribership.

•  Gather content, write content and create layout of all monthly e-communications for ISMHS audiences.

•  Work with graphic designer, as needed, to design collateral pieces including posters, signage, ads, etc.

•  Interact and work alongside the ISMHS’s creative agency, as needed.

What we're looking for

•  Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Digital/E-Marketing, Web design, Visual Communication or communications-related field preferred.

•  Working knowledge of a website content management system, as well as various technical aspects of enhancing and maintaining a website (publishing workflow, content staging, etc.).

•  Proven understanding of Google Analytics and SEO.

•  Experience with JavaScript, CSS and HTML.

•  Excellent organizational skills and confidence as a self-starter.

•  Exceptional attention to detail.

•  Minimum of 3-5 years experience working in professional work environment in web and e-communications. Some graphic design experience preferred.

•  Experience and proficiency using Microsoft products and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator).

•  Experience in web/online design. 

•  Experience designing in Macintosh and PC environments a plus.

•  Passion for learning, change and thinking outside the box to propose and implement new ideas and innovative solutions.

•  Ability to adapt and conform to shifting and multiple priorities while still meeting deadlines.

•  Able to present ideas and communicate information clearly, concisely and professionally.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
