Salary:

LPN's in this position will start at the beginning hourly rate of $21.00/hr

RN's for this position will start at the beginning hourly rate of $30.00/hr.

About the Job:

To ensure long term care residents receive care during the COVID-19 pandemic that following infection control practices as guided by the CDC, CMS and state regulations.  This intermittent position helps the state assure compliance for optimal health outcomes.  

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this roles are as follows:

  • Make onsite facility infection control visits to observe infection control practices and provide guidance as needed. Document on a standardized checklist and report concerns to the LTC Area Supervisor at the end of the facility visit.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of complaints within the required timeframes using federal and state protocols and procedures, including investigations at times specific to the allegations in the complaint, to identify deficient practices and determine appropriate scope and severity in the provision of healthcare and related services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of complainants, residents who are the subject of the complaint, and the complaint survey schedules. 
  • Complete a written summary of the investigation of each allegation in the complaint;
  • Document findings on the survey report and submit reports within the required timeframes;
  • Organize and submit information according to Long Term Care policies;
  • Attend staff and area meetings;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need For Success:
  • Must at least hold a RN license preferred.  Must be knowledgable in infection control practices will travel to long term care facilities in Indiana and make observations, complete interviews with long term care staff and complete checklist.
  • Specialized knowledge of principles of nursing practice and standards of care; 
  • Knowledge of survey and investigative procedures and the ability to conduct surveys, inspections, interviews, observations and investigations; 
  • Ability to identify potential adverse health and safety conditions; 
  • Ability to learn investigative techniques needed to complete a thorough investigation including, but not limited to, conducting interviews, reviewing medical records and other documentation and making observations; 
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment and software to enter, retrieve and manipulate data; 
  • Must hold and maintain a Valid Indiana’s Driver’s License; 
  • Ability to work before and after normal work hours, including on weekends; 
  • Ability to be professional and maintain composure under stressful situations; 
  • Commitment to the public health mission of protecting the health, safety, rights, privacy, and well-being of residents in long term care facilities; 
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. 
     
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
