About Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS):
The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is a statewide museum system with 12 locations, including a central museum based in Indianapolis. Role Overview:
Indiana State Museum is seeking an Outreach Program Educator to facilitate programs at offsite locations. You will work with the Engagement Department from May through August. The schedule is Monday - Friday for 15 hours per week.
Salary:
This intermittent position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $16.73 per hour but may be commensurate with education and job experience.
A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
- Implement and teach outreach programs at locations in the Indianapolis area.
- Mentor and encourage creativity, exploration, and a hands-on, open-ended learning environment.
- Completion of training during first 2 weeks of hiring.
- Travel to partner organizations.
- Manage inventory of program materials and program kits.
- Engage students grades K – 8th in STEAM and other relevant topics.
- Communication with partner locations and out of school time manager.
- Completion of program debriefs.

What You'll Need for Success:
Credentials:
- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree, or degree seeking, preferred.
Additional qualifications:
- Experience working with children aged K-8.
- Formal/informal teaching experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills with large groups of children.
- Ability to work Monday – Friday during the afternoon and early evening.
- Must be comfortable working independently.
- Reliable transportation needed.
- Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Completion of online child protection course upon hiring.
