About The Job:

The Auditor of State seeks to hire a motivated and organized Staff Accountant to join the Accounting and Reporting Division. The position will provide support to state agencies in maintaining accurate financial records for state assets, audit and approve general ledger transactions, and perform ledger integrity and reconciliations of the state’s financial system.

A Day In The Life:
  • Provide support to state agencies in the maintenance and reconciliation of the statewide asset management system.
    • Provide primary agency support in maintaining the statewide asset database, including monitoring of transactions to ensure assets are reported in conformity with the State Board of Accounts Accounting and Uniform Complaisance Guidelines Manual and other applicable state policies and statutes
    • Provide statewide asset training to agency CFOs, fiscal staff, and asset managers
    • Assist in developing training guides and manuals for statewide asset reporting
    • Make recommendations for streamlining business process to address efficiencies within the financial system
    • Analyze and report on financial status of assets including the annual asset financial reports to be included in the state’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)
    • Data entry of capital lease assets into the financial system
    • Serve as a liaison between the Auditor of State and the technical support staff for asset reporting
  • Audit and approve general ledger journal transactions in accordance with state policies, statutes, and codes.
  • Complete regular reviews and reconciliations of accounting information in order to ensure accuracy. These include:
    • Weekly review of report of collection depositing entries, prior period adjustments, inter departmental billing journals, system generated journal masks, transfer accounts
    • Daily ledger integrity checks
  • Other duties may include but not limited to:
    • Processing Quasi Agency payroll billing
    • Providing backup support to the division for the preparation of monthly cash reconciliations
    • Perform related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

If this is an Intermittent position, the position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
