Role Overview

The Staff Accountant supports the central DCS Accounts Payable office to ensure the daily administration of various funds.  You may process invoices, vouchers, deposits, reimbursement requests, and other assigned items.

 

Candidates with current PeopleSoft accounts payable skills are highly desired.

 

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities include:

  • Process legal accumulated depreciation vouchers and maintain a log.
  • Process drug and DNA screening vouchers.
  • Process education vouchers and reimbursements.
  • Maintain assigned purchase-order and non-purchase-order vouchers.
  • Act as primary backup for KidsTrax AP vouchering and reconciliation.
  • Act as primary backup for KidsTrax AP reports.
  • Act as primary backup liaison for KidsTrax payments sent to the Auditor’s office.
  • Act as primary backup for Oracle Service Data Objects processing and vouchering.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Specialized knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of public accounting.
  • Specialized knowledge of agency organization and function.
  • Specialized knowledge of federal and state accounting and bookkeeping laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Specialized knowledge of automated accounting systems.
  • Ability to solve complex accounting methods and procedures to meet agency needs.
  • Ability to prepare budgets.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret complex financial statements and reports.
  • Ability to reconcile discrepancies between accounts.
  • Effective communication skills. 
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
