Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $86,000 - $112,000 per year, depending on years of experience.

 

Role Overview:

The Senior Salesforce Application Developer works under limited supervision performing application systems analysis duties, design, development, and system administrative duties.  This encompasses reviewing business requirements, performing application design, development and configuration, unit testing, and defect correction.  A strong working knowledge of one or more software development methodologies is expected along with familiarity with Salesforce CRM, business problem analysis, system design and systems integration and Salesforce coding, configuration, and administration.

 

Salesforce administrative duties include installing applications, adding objects and fields; data management; support functions; data analysis; creating data standards and auditing for data quality; sustaining user adoption and training on the system.

 

Specific Skills (SalesForce)

  • 5+ years expertise in Salesforce Lightning 
  • Extensive experience developing Lightning Components, both within the Salesforce Lightning Design System and by writing custom Lightning Components in Java Script within the Aura framework.
  • Expertise in Apex 
  • Extensive experience developing custom Apex Classes and Apex Triggers
  • Expertise in Salesforce Query and Search Language (SoQL and SoSL), also must be able to speak to limitations of languages and differences between SoQL and SQL
  • Experience developing Visualforce pages, Visualforce components and Customer Controllers
  • Experience creating Custom Report Types and developing custom Reports and Dashboards
  • Experience with interacting with external systems via Salesforce callouts
  • Experience developing applications that interact with Salesforce via the SOAP, REST, MuleSoft ESB APIs
  • Firm understanding of Salesforce Communities 
  • Firm understanding of Salesforce Governor Limits, limit monitoring, and best practices for limit-informed development.
  • Experience developing webpages and applications. Desired skills include: Angular JS, Java Script, JSP, CSS, HTML, and/or PHP
  • Firm understanding of Object-Oriented coding standards, Design Patterns, and similar best practices, including Java, Python, MS VBA, or VB.NET 
  • Salesforce administration Provisioning users, password resets, account freezing / inactivating, and permission sets.
  • Developing Profile and Role hierarchies with Object and Field level security in mind
  • Declarative development in Salesforce
  • Customizing Standard Objects and creating Custom Objects
  • Customizing object page layouts and profile-based layout assignment
  • Creating Work and Approval Flows
  • Developing data models within Salesforce via DataLoader
  • Experience creating Junction Objects to maintain one-to-many relationships
  • Certifications: OmniStudio Developer, Lighting, and Salesforce administration

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

•    Maintaining and upgrading existing systems as required
•    Troubleshooting technical issues
•    Collaborates with Business Analysts, Project Leads and IT Developers to resolve issues and ensuring solutions are viable and consistent
•    Creates system guidelines and manuals for the organization
•    Conducts training sessions and workshops on system processes
•    Work with Business and IT teams to establish agreed-upon timelines for projects
•    Effectively manage multiple tasks and timelines and prioritizing workloads
•    Modify and upgrade existing systems and functions in Salesforce
•    Develop new features from the ground up in Salesforce
•    Design and implement cloud solutions for various environments (Service, Financial, Marketing, Community)
•    Develop and upgrade functions in Lightning Design System and Lightning Components Development
•    Complete maintenance activities and prepare new releases in Salesforce system
•    Develop and coordinate data transfers between Salesforce and outside databases
•    Stay up to speed on the newest Salesforce technologies and advancements
•    Research and determine usefulness of new and emerging technologies
•    Utilize Salesforce best practices and leverage available platform functionalities where possible.
•    Communicate the pros and cons of a technical solution to business leaders
•    Easily communicate your ideas through code, writing, presentations, demos, whiteboard sessions. Acts as the subject matter expert to participate in business discussions relating to new functionality, system solutions and other needs as identified by the business.
•    Configures Salesforce, including custom objects and fields, page layouts, reports, dashboards, profiles, rules, triggers, workflows and approval processes. 
•    Maintains reports and dashboards.
•    Evaluates, recommends and assists in implementation of third party solutions and app exchange packages based on business request or project needs.
•    Troubleshoots and solves issues related to the Salesforce environment and applications in use from the app exchange.
•    Manages the testing process for new functionality: Creates test cases, Establishes protocols and testing environments, Coordinates testing with business and IT to ensure functionality is met with releases
•    Researches and stays up to date with Salesforce releases. Analyzes new functionality impact to environment and plans for release.
•    Assists in the development of project cost and time estimates.
•    Tests and debugs new and existing application software.
•    Executes tasks in conformance of development techniques, standards, policies and procedures.
•    Provides complete documentation for new or modified information systems and/or application software programs.
•    Monitors completed application software systems to ensure proper execution and performance.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years experience developing and implementing IT solutions


Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of information systems design principles and new systems design techniques;
  • Considerable knowledge of policies, standards, procedures, and techniques used for application development;
  • Technical aptitude and solid understanding of programming concepts.
  • Ability to perform problem solving and analytical analysis;
  • Considerable knowledge of application development software tools and application development software languages;
  • Working knowledge of the most recent advancement of information technology equipment, operation, and capabilities;
  • Broad understanding of IT infrastructure and application interfaces, database concepts, and general IT concepts (e.g. virtualization, cloud computing, platforms).
  • Ability to work independently under general direction;
  • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with others;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A high degree of organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Flexibility to work as needed outside of traditional business hours when required

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
