Hire Salary: 

The minimum starting salary for this position is $44,720. 

 

About the Department of Child Services:

DCS protects children who are victims of abuse or neglect and strengthens families through services that focus on family support and preservation. The Department also administers child support, child protection, adoption and foster care throughout the State of Indiana.

About the Job:

The Child Support Bureau (CSB), Senior Manager of Central Services position has the responsibility to provide direction and supervision to the following units of CSB:  Employer Maintainence Unit (EMU), Indiana Intergovernmental Central Registry Unit (ICRU) and State Parent Locator Services Unit (SPLS).  These units are comprised of 3 Supervisors, 3 Team Leads, and 19 Program Coordinator 6 positions, which total a staff of 25. This person works closely with the Supervisors to ensure procedural manuals are up-to-date and provided to staff , customer service is a priority for all staff and oversees the work production and efficiencies of each unit.

The following vendor contracts and associated accounts are monitored by this position: Lexus/Nexus/Accurint, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Appris/JusticeXchange, Stellarware and New Hire/Division of Workforce Development.  Also acts as a liasion for all of these agencies and/or companies.

This position oversees system updates to ISETS as needed as well as assume the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) for any future needs in preparation for INvest.  This includes participating in ISETS/INvest team meetings and approving a variety of projects.
 

A Day in the Life:

Manage the 3 Supervisors and their staff:

Supervise, train, evaluate, guide and monitor a diverse group with regard to attendance and work              performance.

 Meet with unit Supervisors routinely to keep updated on staff's work production and identify needs of the unit.

 Monitor vendor contracts and act as a liasion to each agency/company listed above.  Work with DCS legal staff as needed.  Review monthly invoices for approval.  Research and provide input for potential new vendors/companies.

Participate in manager and strategic meetings to ensure each unit is producing work that is needed to achieve the agency's overall goal of collecting child support in the most efficient and effective manner

Participate in projects with the ISETS and INvest teams.   Provide expert knowledge in the business subjects responsible for by using previous and current subject experience.

 Provide customer service to internal and external customers including, but not limited to, CSB staff, county IV-D staff, BMV employees and their customers and staff of various vendors and companies.
 

What You Need for Success:

Two years of child support experience in either a county or State office preferred.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Account Managers of  outside agency staff, and county IV-D office staff.
Excellent customer service skills.
Provide a professional image at all times.
Comfortable leading group meetings and giving presentations.
Possesses expert problem solving skills and is a forward thinker.
Ability to lead, mentor, and assist staff to develop and excel in job duties.
Ability to work independently and resolve issues as they arise.
Assist with staff development, performance management, directing and coaching of staff.
Two years of Supervisory experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
