Role Overview:
This roles purpose is to aid and assist in the production of Roadway Signs. Duties are, but not limited to, operating machinery to cut, corner, and cover metal for fabricating signs. Potentially may require some basic data entry into primarily Excel spreadsheets.
Shift Schedule:
Regular work schedule Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm, with the potential for voluntary overtime.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.24 an hour.
Location:
This position is located in INDOT’s 6400 E 30th St Indianapolis.
A Day in the Life:
The essential elements of the job duties:
- Assisting in the fabrication of road signs.
- Operating a Hydro-Stripper to clean film off old signs.
- Operating various machines to prep aluminum signs for fabrication.
- Apply Sheeting to blank sign material.
- Packaging signs for delivery
- Assist with loading signs and other materials on truck for delivery.
- Maintain neat and organized workstation.
- Assist with cutting Steel I Beams to specified lengths for delivery.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- Valid high school diploma or GED; or preferred one (1) year of related work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to perform daily duties independently and/or with other people.
- Must have knowledge about Excel, Microsoft, and Outlook.
- Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Must be able to take orders on which tasks need to be completed.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.
- Pay attention to details and have an organizational Skills and Time management.
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
