Salary Information:

This position starts at a minimum rate of $15.00 per hour; however, pay may be commensurate with experience and the starting rate may vary for the position for which you apply.

About the Job:

As an Intermittent Employee in the Planning and Public Engagement Unit within the Department of Fish and Wildlife, you will have the opportunity to assist with the development of outreach materials, support volunteer and education programs; and assist with the recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) program for hunters and anglers. This will provide an excellent introduction to the customer service and education aspects of fish and wildlife management. Your experience will include team building, professional development, and opportunities to explore other aspects of DFW. Career coaching, help with resume writing, and networking opportunities related to building a career in natural resources will also be provided. A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of education and outreach strategies.
  • Providing administrative and technical support to customers purchasing hunting and fishing licenses.  
  • Supporting the coordination of special events and shows.
  • Assisting the Public Engagement team and Division of Communications in sharing accurate fish and wildlife related information via websites, DNR and DFW calendars, social media, electronic newsletters, news releases, and other communication channels.
  • Performing administrative duties, including volunteer background checks, photo archiving, and preparing materials for events and workshops. 
  • Representing the Division of Fish & Wildlife and the DNR positively by providing outstanding customer service to our customers and DNR staff.
  • Taking ownership of special projects related to R3 events and related outreach efforts.
  • Completing special trainings.
  • Inspiring enthusiasm for Indiana’s natural resources and conservation!

What We're Looking For:

  • Candidates shall have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) or one (1) year of work experience.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Someone who demonstrates a passion for hunting and/or fishing or is dedicated to helping others enjoy outdoor recreation.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be comfortable working with all ages of people.
  • Strong Organization Skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned work duties.
  • Ability to seek out and compile information and research in support of project goals and activities. 

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
