About the Job:

The Program Director administers a program within a state agency and serves as a specialist in this area.  The director utilizes education, consultation, cooperative programming and coordination to accomplish goals.  The purpose of this position is to assist Indiana providers as they enroll, credential and navigate the Indiana Medicaid programs and to answer provider and legislator inquiries, educate providers, participate in provider events as well as problem-solve provider inquiries. 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between OMPP and providers whenever the State is contacted on provider enrollment and credentialing related issues.
  • Resolve routine provider enrollment issues.  Ensure prompt response to providers and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the Provider Services team in regards to provider credentialing. Assist with research and organization of activity related to provider credentialing projects and work to improve the provider credentialing experience.
  • Assist with the overall development of and work on any publications related to provider enrollment.
  • Assist with oversight of the Fiscal Agent contract functions related to provider services, including enrollment and disenrollment.  Address routine issues and provide guidance to the contractor.
  • Responsible for quality oversight of the Fiscal Agent call center, including the provider services phone line.
  • Assist with research and organization of activity related to provider credentialing projects.
  • Collaborate with the Quality and Outcomes Section to promote coordination among the managed care entities around provider enrollment and credentialing concerns.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of the division and agency mission and goals.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in communication, sales, marketing, public health, business, public administration, or similar required.  Prior experience in healthcare required.   
  • Must have knowledge or experience related to provider enrollment and/or credentialing;
  • Demonstrable evidence of effective public speaking.  Incumbent must engage stakeholders for outreach and marketing purposes;
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work well with external stakeholders to address any questions or concerns;
  • Must be generally familiar with legislative and policy developments at federal and state levels related to Medicaid;
  • Must be analytical with keen ability to focus on detail while still focusing on the broader picture and message;
  • Ability to analyze and predict effects of program changes on actual work operations;
  • Ability to resolve issues with professionalism and sensitivity; must work well with other agencies, divisions, and consistently implement a unified vision;
  • Ability to use standard computer word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
  • Ability to compile, synthesize, and present complex recommendations; and
  • Passion for public service.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
