About the Job:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing scope, capacity, and schedule for large projects or multiple medium projects with moderately complex project requirements. 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Advise stakeholders on best practices related to project management agency-wide
  • Conducts capacity modeling for business analyst team and other key stakeholders
  • Counsels agency on proper sequencing of projects and priorities to maximize available capacity;
  • Aligns stakeholders to universally-accepted project plans;
  • Enhances agency maturity modeling with KPIs, effectiveness, capacity, and maturity indicators;
  • Makes recommendations about how to structure work in ways that maximize the effectiveness of the team members;
  • Facilitates issues and risks that impact the overall timelines and conduct mitigation planning;
  • Maintain task registers and project status documents for use in reporting to stakeholders 
  • Coordinate stakeholders and meeting schedules as needed;
  • Supports a strong project management culture by coaching and mentoring entry-level project managers;
  • Drive completion of a variety of project types including business process and IT systems;
  • May function as Team and/or Project lead responsible for completion of project phase;

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Thorough knowledge of project management principles;
  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business management, or related field – equivalent combination of work experience and/or education may be substituted;
  • Additional two (2) years of experience as a project manager. Experience in developing and leading project teams. 
  • Ability to work independently under general direction;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or related priorities;
  • Ability to read and understand complicated technical manuals;
  • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with others;
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
