About the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (OEI):

The Office of Entrepreneurship works to strengthen Indiana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and support business creation, growth, and succession across the state. OEI collaborates with entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized businesses, support organizations, universities, and state agencies to advance entrepreneurship as a core economic development strategy—particularly for Main Street businesses and communities.

 

Role Overview: 

OEI is designed to support the organizations that support entrepreneurs—not serve them directly. This role ensures that strategy turns into execution across Indiana, particularly in helping businesses grow, transition, and remain locally owned.

 

The OEI Project Manager is a high-impact operator responsible for driving execution across OEI’s priority initiatives while supporting leadership in day-to-day operations.

 

This role sits at the center of OEI’s work—ensuring initiatives move forward with clarity, speed, and accountability—while serving as a force multiplier for a small team working across a large, complex statewide ecosystem.

 

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

 

A Day in the Life:

Drive Execution:

  • Manage key OEI initiatives (e.g., ecosystem pilots, ETA efforts, ConnectIND enhancements)
  • Build project plans, track progress, and ensure alignment with OEI priorities
  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively drive solutions

Coordinate Across the Ecosystem:

  • Serve as a liaison across state agencies, regional partners, and support organizations
  • Support convenings, regional engagement, and stakeholder coordination
  • Maintain visibility into activity across Indiana and surface key insights

Strengthen Operations:

  • Build and manage internal systems for tracking projects, priorities, and outcomes
  • Support dashboards, reporting, and workflow management
  • Improve processes to increase speed and clarity across OEI initiatives

Support Leadership:

  • Manage scheduling, meeting prep, and follow-ups for OEI leadership
  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and summaries
  • Track action items and ensure accountability on key priorities

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

Qualifications:

  • 2–5+ years in project management, operations, consulting, or related field
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Preferred: Experience in entrepreneurship, economic development, or public sector

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
