Role Overview

The Program Accountant contributes to fulfilling Program Accounting Department’s mission contributing to IHCDA’s vision and strategic operational and program goals through ensuring all programmatic transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner.


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $43,888.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

  • Povide collaboration in all areas, including customer service, and professionalism
  • Works in a variety of applicable internal and external software systems to approve, process, complete, document and record cash transactions, as well as maintain for certain programs, supplemental electronic and physical support for transaction tracking, audit verification and internal/external reporting
  • Effectively perform functions of reviewing and payment of claims, Trial Balance analysis, Checkbook balancing, Journal Entries for necessary entries, training, cross training into other programs evaluating performance, according to IHCDA/ GASB-GAAP practices
  • Willing to assist other program accountants on his/her team and helps streamline the program accounting department and its process
  • Cordinate and participate in projects for the enhancement and improvement of IHCDA’s Data Management System 
  • Demonstrate strong programmatic and accounting skills, initiative and a good understanding of Federal programs administered
  • Maintains IHCDA systems and spreadsheets related to the accurate record keeping and organization of information contained in Federal online draw systems such as IDIS, DRGR and PMS
  • Create and update procedure manual for processing transactions

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Demonstrates customer service orientation.
  • Has experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accouinting software
  • Exepreince with Federal and State Grants Managerment and draw system
  • Experience with Federal and State Grant Accounting and Budgeting on both the programmatic side and accoutning side
  • Knowledge and familiarity with governing and revlevant laws, regulations, polocies, and procedures in the state and federal grants environment
  • Analyzed budget plans to ensure funds spent down efficiently and in-line with terms and agreement of Grant agreements and contracts
  • Experience with finance, analyzing financial statements, reviewing audit reports, managing budgets, and financial analyses of award portfolios
  • Understanding of general accounting principles for both Government and non-governmental entities
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and as an individual

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
