Role Overview

This role's primary responsibilities include:

  • Adjudication of Deductible Income and Employment Status issues that are detected through the various Crossmatches performed.  If crossmatch information received determines that there is an overpayment of benefits to claimants, yet aren’t deemed as potential fraud investigations, these issues will be adjudicated by our Crossmatch Unit Specialists.

  • Detection and escalation of potential claimant fraud that are detected through the various Crossmatches.  These detections will be escalated to the BPC Investigations Unit, where they will perform the actual fraud investigation.

  • Any appeal of a completed adjudicated issue by a person holding this position is expected to see the appeal through the entire process. This includes introducing evidence to all parties involved as well as testimony representing the department at these appeals.

  • Adjudication of Late Voucher, Unknown Union Waivers, Work Search and AS-Alien Status issues.

  • Reporting of an accurate production count of adjudicated issues and time spent on other duties.

  • Schedule meetings, set calendar appointments, meet assigned deadlines etc.

 

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

Based upon specific program area and needs, the essential functions of this role could include:

  • Serves as a claims specialist and subject matter expert for specific program area.
  • Compliance: Serves as first point of contact for the overpayment division.  Answers questions from individuals via phone calls or emails, ensures data is updated, and sets up payment plans.  Detects potential overpayments for claimants who have wages and benefits in Indiana and/or other states.  Specializes in working cases for individuals who are deceased, incarcerated, multiple claimants using same phone number, same address, same email, and same bank accounts.
  • Field Operations: Makes quality determinations on applications per federal guidelines.  Provides customer service and technical support to businesses and payroll/consultant firms.  Assists in employer outreach and building employer penetration.

What You'll Need for Success:

The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either 

  • a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years full time experience performing administrative support, bookkeeping, office management, or related experience.

Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

  • Basic knowledge of the program area.
  • Basic knowledge of state governmental administrative structure.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and multitask.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work with sensitive documents and information, and be privy to sensitive agency information without divulging information to internal or external parties.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
  • Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
