Role Overview

As a Program Coordinator, you will serve within the Indiana Department of Labor’s (IDOL) Quality Metrics and Statistics (QMS) Division. Responsible for the comprehensive collection and distribution of reliable work-related injury and illness and fatality data in order to comply with Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and state/federal and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. These data are primarily collected through the Survey of Occupational Injuries & Illnesses (SOII) and the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) and are used extensively by both public and private entities as a tool for analysis and prevention of workplace injury and illnesses. 

 
Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Collect and enter data including but not limited to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Survey of Occupation Injury and Illness and Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries.
  • Communicate daily with Indiana businesses by phone, fax, e-mail and mail regarding the data collection of federal programs.
  • Research and update data errors and/or data quality issues with businesses regarding data collection.
  • Research and update mailing address for federal survey notices and or post-office mail returns.
  • Work with QMS Director to promptly respond to all internal and external requests for data.
  • Assist with administrative and other related duties for the wage and hour and youth employment divisions as needed.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work with sensitive documents and information without divulging information to internal or external parties.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and/or inquiries simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as both an individual and in a team environment towards a common deadline, and to adapt to changing responsibilities accordingly.
  • Ability to adhere to timeliness standards as set by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Indiana Department of Labor, and federal OSHA.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to utilize and learn computer software such as MS Office programs and agency specific programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping requirements is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical coding and terminology is a plus but not required.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

This individual will be expected to partner with agency personnel and related stakeholders working towards completion of assigned functions. Exceptional customer service is provided to agency partners and/or the general public.

Physical Effort:

This role performs work in an environment where sitting for extended periods of time could be expected.
This role requires the ability to lift/transport items up to 50 lbs with or without the assistance of equipment.
