Salary Information:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $37,778.00 but may be commensurate with job experience.
 

About the Job:

The Accountant processes requests for in and out of state travel  in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Indiana Department of Administration, State Board of Accounts, and Auditor's office.  You will make reservations for travelers, provides customer service by answering and resolving traveler questions and concerns, and processes travel vouchers for reimbursement.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Audit and process Travel Vocuhers for in state and out of state travel.Must keep travel reimbursements up-to-date even if that requires you requesting assistance from other finance staff. If assistance is required you must inform the chain of command so they can ask for assistance when needed.
  • Complete AP ENCOMPASS process including preparation of payments, post payments, create pay cycle, create disk, prepare payment paperwork, and forward to the Auditor of State.  
  • Investigate all budget checking errors found in ENCOMPASS AP batch budget check process.
  • Provide agency travel training to new employees.
  • Ensure travel arrangements are made for ISDH employees for out of state working with IDOA travel guidelines, policies and procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Must posses great customer service skills and be a critical thinker.
  • Extensive functional knowledge of ENCOMPASS Financials AP module.
  • Specialized knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of payables.
  • General knowledge of in state and out of travel policies and procedures.
  • Specialized knowledge of statutes and codes, policies , and procedures .
  • Working knowledge of agency organization and function and purpose.
  • Ability to analyze complex payables problems.
  • Ability to maintain travel inbox request and respond in a timely manner.
  • Ability to assist in the development of payables accounting methods and procedures to meet agency needs.
  • Ability to reconcile payables discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage personal workload and work independently.
  • Ability to develop effective work relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing by working with Agencies, Program Areas and outside vendors resolving issues.
