This position starts at $43,000.00 but is commesurate wiith education and experience.

About the Job:

The Auditor of State’s Payroll Department processes a biweekly payroll for 32,000+ employees across three branches of government.  The Payroll Specialist should have knowledge of PeopleSoft Payroll for North America and PeopleSoft Time & Labor.  The ideal candidate should be detailed oriented and have proven experience in the fundamentals of Payroll, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, meet critical deadlines, exhibit the ability to multitask, prioritize and work in a past paced environment

A Day in the Life:

Essential Job Responsibilities:
•    Provide PeopleSoft subject matter expertise to state agencies for day-to-day support of Payroll and Time & Labor processes 
•    Perform analysis and review of critical data
•    Apply Problem solving skills methodically to troubleshoot issues
•    Perform essential data inputs with great attention to details
•    Review and audit data inputs/outputs  
•    Perform complex Payroll processes including off-cycle payments, check reversals, calculations of gross to net, earnings, taxes, deductions, retirement, fringe benefits 
•    Perform various validations of data, such as earnings, deductions, interface files
•    Run and Analyze Time & Labor queries and reports 
•    Serve as subject matter expert to assist with Payroll and Time & Labor ticket management
•    Assist in creating and updating training and communication material
•    Knowledge of full cycle payroll and time and labor processing in PeopleSoft

•    1-3 years payroll experience
•    Strong desire to learn skills independently

•    Strong skills across the entire suite of Microsoft Office products
•    Strong attention to detail
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Strong analytical mind; demonstrated critical thinking and analytic skills with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
•    Knowledge of payroll practices, including timekeeping rules, regulations, and payroll tax withholding 
•    Ability to accurately collect information in order to understand and assess the situation
•    Excellent collaborator and a team player
•    Well-developed root-cause analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot problems
•    Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution 
•    Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee information
•    Focus on quality and customer service
•    Must be a self-starter
•    Ability to work and learn independently as well as on a team
•    Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time
