Role Overview:

This position is within DOC Payroll, Department you will be assigned facilities to process bi-weekly payroll as well as be an expert at all state personnel, payroll and internal DOC policies.

 

Salary:
The salary for this position is $39,000.00 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

About the Job:

In this role, you will be based out of IDOC Central Office and will be responsible for ensuring that employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner. The purpose of this position is to process the bi-weekly Auditor's Payfile to create employees' payroll warrants. You will provide assistance to employees and business partners concerning state statutes and policies, and procedures regarding payroll related issues. You will also act as a liaison between Central Office payroll, the Auditor's Office, and the Facility.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll maintenance
  • Record all overtime payable hours and prepare bi-weekly overtime breakdown report. 
  • Responsible for tracking all family medical leave, military leave & special sick.
  • Prepare storage in accordance with the retention schedule for payrolls that have been audited annually by State Board of Accounts and file payroll documentation bi-weekly.
  • Act as the liaison between facility/employee and Central Office. 
  • Provide essential training for facilty employees on proper completion of payroll documents.
  • Responsible for assisting payroll supervisor and all other related work as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
