Role Overview:
The Outreach Intern – Central Region position is a one-year internship designed to support CHE’s K-12 Outreach team and the implementation of the College Matters initiative through the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation (https://www.rmff.org/our-work/college-matters/). The College Matters initiative is designed to support increases in FAFSA filing and college enrollment for Marion County students.
The CHE Outreach Intern – Central Region will work primarily as a member of the K-12 Outreach and Postsecondary Transitions team, supporting the implementation of the 21st Century Scholars program, FAFSA filing, and the Indiana Pre-Admissions program for students in Marion County. The position will report to the Postsecondary Transitions Manager. There are three pillars guiding the CHE HOPE Agenda – college enrollment, college completion, and college graduate retention – and the 21st Century Scholars program, FAFSA, and Indiana Pre-Admissions address all three. The intern will collaborate internally with the K-12 Outreach, State Financial Aid, Marketing and Communications, and Public Policy teams, and externally with K-12 and community partners. Following the 2023 legislative session, CHE will automatically enroll all eligible students into the 21st Century Scholars program, and high school seniors are required to submit the FAFSA. The intern will assist with increasing eligible students’ engagement in the 21st Century Scholars program and FAFSA filing to increase college-going and utilization of state financial aid. CHE also implemented Indiana Pre-Admissions: Your Path to College, beginning with the class of 2024. The intern will assist students and families with making pre-admissions choices and completing college applications.
