About NeuroDiagnostic Institute

NeuroDiagnostic Institute and Advanced Treatment Center located on the campus of Community East Hospital in Indianapolis, and operated in partnership with Community Health Network, delivers advanced evaluation and treatment for patients with the most challenging and complex neuropsychiatric illnesses and moves them more efficiently into the most appropriate treatment settings within the community or state mental health system. The NDI is a key component the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s initiative to modernize and reengineer Indiana’s network of state-operated mental health facilities.


Starting salary for this position is $50,856.00. This position's salary will be commensurate base on education and/or experience.

About the Job:

The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for supervising assigned nursing staff for a specific unit within a state hospital. Serves as a unit based nursing supervisor with clinical and administrative functions., Assesses, intervenes, documents and communicates to promote patient care and safety.

A Day in the Life:

Directs RNs and BHRAs to coordinate workflow on the unit.
•Prioritizes and organizes the daily care of patients.
•Works closely with the ADON and unit physician to provide quality care.
•Provides leadership to staff for assigned unit.
•Facilitates and implements performance management functions in collaboration with the ADON, including administering discipline.
•Serves as a Treatment Plan Coordinator and develops Treatment Plans in collaboration with other clinical staff.
•Makes patient care assignments based upon specific patient needs.
•Provides ongoing assessment of patients' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge
•Carries out nursing care following NDI policies and procedures
•Reponds to emergency situations
•Directs care/intervenes with agitated patients
•Coordinates and conducts Nursing programs 
•Regonizes and defines actual and potential barriers to care and takes corrective actions.
•Provides education to patients and staff based upon assessed needs.
•Serves on institute committees and work group as requested.
•Serves as a patient advocate
•Assures that staff follow institute and nursing policies and procedures correctly, interprets policies and procedures to staff as needed
•Attends training as assigned and maintains certification in CPI, CPR/AED and TB testing.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Current valid State of Indiana RN license;
  • Current CPR certification;
  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles and the ability to implement these;
  • Expert knowledge of the principles of staff, children and adolescent evaluations;
  • Ability to plan and change programs and procedures to comply with state and federal laws and regulations;
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
  • Must have professionalism and organizational competencies;

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides direct supervision for one or more staff members.
