Role Overview

Make choices as to which county jail offenders are scheduled into the department and when they are scheduled.  Perform a wide variety of standardized tasks and make decisions and use judgment. Control and review of work is accomplished through moderate to little supervision and close procedural checks inherent in the workflow.  Will receive instruction for new and complex tasks. Has deadlines to meet and should use work time in an efficient manner. Must work well with others and be professional at all times. Must have professional telephone skills.  

 
Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

•    Assists in maintaining an 800 toll free line to provide county sheriff’s and jail access to the department
•    Provides instructions to sheriffs to effect movement of offenders bed availability within the county jails
•    Coordinates Jail offender tracking and ensures entry into OIS when offenders are moved in the county jails
•    Assists in the referral of information on status changes to the Classification Field Analysts for appropriate entry in OIS (i.e., escapes, bond releases, modifications, etc)
•    Coordinates the transfers and arrivals of offenders from county jails to the appropriate IDOC Intake Facility
•    Maintains records of county jail offenders, transfers, counts and schedules 
•    Coordinates in a timely fashion the date of arrival to the intake facilities of the county jail offenders 
•    Coordinates the advising the holding counties of COA offenders to be moved, where to be moved and the date of movement
•    Forwards to the Intake facilities the COA files maintained at Central Office prior to the offenders scheduled entry
•    Maintains accurate count of COA offenders awaiting IDOC beds
•    Maintains accurate count of vacant beds in COA holding counties
•    Assists in maintaining the Visitor Access Database
•    Maintains an accurate listing of CTP eligible Offenders
•    Maintains an accurate listing of CTP violator Offenders

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

•    Working knowledge of count procedures in performing IDOC specialized count
•    Working knowledge of IDOC policies and procedures
•    Working knowledge of specialized forms and procedures used in assigned work area
•    Working knowledge of County Jail Procedures
•    Working knowledge of county court abstracts and court procedures
•    Ability to work well with others and independently
•    Ability to communicate well with outside agencies
•    Performs moderately complex tasks following established procedures and practices
•    Ability to make decisions regarding county jail movements
•    Ability to perform all duties of various areas of Operational Support Services
•    Ability to operate various office machines….fax, printers, laminator, scanner, etc.
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Utilities for the Computer system

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
