Role Overview

As a Maintenance Technician at Indiana State Museum, you will be responsible for providing preventative maintenance and repairs to equipment, machinery, buildings and grounds of the Indiana State Museum.  

 

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $46,350.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Performs and makes routine carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs

  • Installing furniture components, doors, wiring and conduits, plumbing fixtures and other varied items

  • Make repairs at heights using various lift equipment

  • Make repairs to and finish drywall 

  • Assists other maintenance repair personnel and building custodians on major projects

  • Assists with setup and tear down for special events

  • Repairs locks and assisting with security needs throughout the Museum system

What You'll Need For Success:

  • The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least two (2) years of experience.

  • Working knowledge of HVAC and ability to use skills in carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs

  • Ability to make repairs to and finish drywall

  • Ability to determine malfunctions of electrical and mechanical equipment and make repairs

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and various drawings

  • Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools 

  • Ability to read and follow instructions and to handle simple mathematical problems

  • Ability to work with at heights with a ladder or lift equipment, training provided

  • Must be able to do physical labor, lift up to 50 pounds, and repetitive movement
