Indiana Criminal Justice Institute

The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) is the State planning agency for criminal justice, juvenile justice, traffic safety and victim services. ICJI is designated as the State Administering Agency for distribution of federal funds, and as the State Statistical Analysis Center for research.

About The Job:

The Traffic Safety Division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is responsible for implementing programming designed to reduce the number of people injured and killed each year on Indiana's roadways.  The Division administers state funds and federal dollars awarded to Indiana from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In this role, the Traffic Safety division conducts grant management, organizes media campaigns, produces educational/informational materials and coordinates special enforcement efforts with state and local law enforcement agencies. 

A Day In The Life:
  • Assist with mailings and print production
  • Compile contact lists
  • Create or update databases
  • Perform research and analysis in support of operations
  • Help launch new initiatives
  • Provide support for annual budgeting development processes
  • Assist with statistical analysis and other special projects
  • Present data-driven recommendations to the Division Director
  • Adhere to brand guidelines
  • May perform additional projects upon request
What We're Looking For:

Working towards a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice or related field

Relevant work experience preferred

Basic knowledge of the mission and role of The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and specifically the Traffic Safety Division

Basic understanding of state policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

Knowledge of state government structure, administrative procedures, and the legislative process

Ability to research, draft, and edit data and reports

Analytical skills

Ability to handle multiple projects

Ability to operate computer system with advanced skills in excel

Good research and writing skills

Good interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a wide variety of contacts

Confidence and ability to learn on the job and adapt quickly to changing circumstances
