This position typically pays $13.21 per hour, depending on qualifications, limited to working 180 calendar days.

About the Job:

This position will primarily focus on coordinating the administration of the 2022 Indiana Youth Tobacco Survey (IYTS). The IYTS is the most comprehensive source of tobacco use data for Indiana youth in grades 6-12. Additional ad hoc projects may be available as time allows.

A Day in the Life:

  • Become familiar with Tobacco Prevention and Cessation mission and vision, history, structure and goals
  • Become familiar with the Indiana Youth Tobacco Survey including survey instrument and data collection methods.
  • Prepare and distribute supporting documents to schools selected for the Indiana Youth Tobacco Survey
  • Assist schools with logistics of survey administration, including acquiring class lists and selecting classes to be surveyed. 
  • Coordinate with schools and local partners throughout the state to schedule survey administration and distribute survey information and instructions
  • Track all communication and follow-up with selected schools

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices
  • Considerable knowledge and competence in using software applications including Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • Strong ability to communicate with school administrators and staff, public health professionals, agency staff, and other stakeholders both verbally and in writing 
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and representatives of State, Local, Federal and private partner agencies 
  • Ability to prepare written project summaries and other communications materials
  • Ability to work independently
  • Preferred: Experience in web-based survey development, including platforms such as RedCap and SurveyMonkey
  • Preferred: Experience in the use of statistical software for data analysis; working knowledge of SAS
