About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites:

The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) is a statewide museum system with 12 locations, including a central museum based in Indianapolis. Role Overview:

The Intermittent School Reservation Assistant communicates with educators regarding school program requests and completes and processes reservations. The assistant would work with the Director of K-12 Education starting in December 2025 through May 2026. This position offers 25 hours a week, scheduled Monday through Friday. 

 

Salary:

This position starts at $16.73 per hour.

 

A Day in the Life:

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicate information to educators and administrators about school and outreach programs, school events and field trip processes.
  • Monitor and respond to requests for school and outreach programs.
  • Schedule school and outreach programs.
  • Complete reservations in the registration system (Altru).
  • Promote ISM school and outreach programs to educators and administrators.
  • Document and track school and outreach program reservations and attendance.
  • Attend regular team meetings.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree or degree seeking preferred.
  • Experience working in informal or formal education field a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be comfortable working independently.
  • Completion of online child protection course upon hiring.

 

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
