About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites:
The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) is a statewide museum system with 12 locations, including a central museum based in Indianapolis. Role Overview:
Position with primary duties as a tour guide, leading visitors through historic home. Providing assistance with programming and gift shop operations is also required. Weekends and holidays are required. Weekly hours will be required based on expected tour groups and programming needs.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.24 per hour but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
- Leading tours through historic home with individuals, groups, and school children.
- Will also need to assist with programming and special events as needed.
- Ability to work well with audiences of all ages, children specifically required.
- Help in gift shop with transactions and with cash registers.
- Housekeeping duties required

- Must have excellent people skills and be comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people.
- Ability to learn facts and retain information.
- Must have, or be willing to acquire, knowledge of site and surrounding area.
- Must be organized and responsible, able to work unsupervised as necessary.
- Must be able to, or willing to learn, how to operate cash registers and handle money.
- Must be willing to be flexible with day-to-day activities and to think critically.

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
