About the Indiana Department of Natural Resources:


The Indiana Department of Natural Resources protects, enhances, and preserves natural, cultural, and recreational resources for Indiana residents.  This extends to reclaiming former mining areas, evaluating the impact of land development on waterways and wildlife, and sustaining gaming areas.  DNR is also a leader in providing educational programming about environmental issues in Indiana.


Role Overview:


DNR has approximately 1,500 desktop and laptop computers and 1.200 mobile devices that are distributed among 930 sites.  You will assist the Network Coordinator, Security Coordinator, and Telecom Coordinator to manage these devices and phone/internet service.

A Day in the Life:


The essential functions of this role are:

  • Editing ArcGis Data to keep network information up to date.
  • Working with Vizio to update Auto Attendant workflows for phone systems.
  • Editing and analyzing Excel workbooks to order Voice over IP Cisco Telephones.
  • Ordering Cell Phones and iPads for users.
  • Support for Mobile Devices for users in the field.
  • Support for Network and Telephone Systems in the field.
  • Account Requests for new users in DNR for email and Active Directory.

What You'll Need for Success:


You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Thorough knowledge of information security management tools, policies and standards of information security practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal legislation and regulatory laws pertaining to information system security and privacy.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer programs/languages and the operating system: mainframe/PC Local Area Network, dial-in access control techniques and on-line teleprocessing program.
  • Familiarity with domain structures, user authentication and digital signatures.
  • Thorough understanding of firewall theory and configuration;
  • Ability to develop and maintain information security standards.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex computer logic to work.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of information technologists including systems administrators, technical support, applications development, end users and management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.



This position has an hourly salary that is commensurate with education, training, certifications, and/or experience.



Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:


This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
