Salary Information:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $35,568.00 but may be commensurate with education and job experience.

About the Job:

The Public Health Administrator works as a key member or leader within a public health program at the agency.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Acts as technical expert to division and agency staff, to staff in other agencies and to the general public within a public health program area.
  • Assesses current public health issues related to a program area.
  • Maintains an effective liaison and referral system between the agency, local health departments, health clinics and other service providers.
  • Directs the development of public health programs, policies and procedure manuals.
  • Manages a grant or budget for a specific public health program allocating resources and determining expenditures.
  • Collects and analyzes relevant program data and makes available to state and local agencies.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Extensive knowledge of public health theories, principles, practices and strategies.
  • Considerable knowledge of the organization and function of state and local health agencies.
  • Considerable knowledge of program planning and implementation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of public health laws governing state and local health jurisdictions.
  • Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other local, state and federal agency staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
