Role Overview:
The Governor’s Summer Internship Program (GSI) is designed to give college students real-world, hands-on experience in their desired field of study to enhance marketability upon graduation. The UI Employer Services Intern would assist several different areas within the Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s Unemployment Tax Division in implementing our agency’s core values: connecting people and employers through engagement with continued transparency and accountability, while celebrating, valuing, and prioritizing equity, inclusion and diversity. The UI Employer Services Intern will assist in researching any relevant state or federal policies, procedures, and regulations for ongoing projects and reporting on them; designing and writing appropriate presentation and policy materials for leadership as necessary; and documenting and reporting on project progress.
Salary Statement:
The hourly rate for this position is $16.24 for those who do not hold a bachelor’s degree & $17.24 for those who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher by the time the internship starts.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Policy Research:
- Research relevant state or federal policies, procedures, and regulations for ongoing projects
- Report/summarize findings on relevant state or federal policies, procedures, and regulations for ongoing projects
- Research and create job aids
- Creating Presentation materials:
- Designing/communicating presentation materials
- Writing/updating appropriate presentation and policy materials
- All Projects:
- Document and reporting out on project progress
- Review and update forms
- Complete/assign work items as necessary
- Data entry
- Maintain confidentiality in discussing sensitive organizational matters and issues
- Ensure progress and satisfaction of all required tasks; and
- Perform other related duties as required.

What You'll Need for Success:
- Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
- Academic work in related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline
- Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels
