About the Governor's Summer Internship Program:
The summer internship program allows participants to work with state agency officials and participate in co-curricular components to enrich their experiences. Interns spend at least 50 percent of their time on predetermined projects that enhance college-level skills and abilities. The co-curricular components of the program ensure competitive, reputable, and inclusive experiential learning. Interns participate in cohort weekly activities designed to enable:
- Professional growth and preparedness for the workforce upon graduation
- Exposure to many facets of state government
- Networking and camaraderie development among the cohort
About the Operational Improvement Internship:
The Operational Improvement Intern will analyze current process flows and development methodologies to make informed improvement efforts by spotting efficiency gaps. This work will drive key projects and improvement events to improve operational flow not only within individual business units, but agency wide flows as well. A natural curiosity about how things work, and a quick grasp of business operations, are essential.
The Operational Improvement Intern will work alongside other people in our Project Management and Organizational Development teams, business unit leaders, and operationally-embedded trainers.

Salary:
The hourly wage for this position traditionally starts at $16.24 per hour for current undergraduate students and $17.24 per hour for those with an earned bachelor’s degree.
A Day in the Life:
As an Operational Improvement Intern for the Indiana Department of Revenue, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience with:
- Assisting in the development of technical standards and policies.
- Facilitating quality improvement efforts including building out multi-day Kaizen events.
- Participating in the development of strategic plans based on customer needs. Communicating process changes to impacted Business Systems teams and assist with coordination of necessary training.
- Analyzing business and user needs, document requirements, and devises new technical business system solutions or revises existing system logic difficulties as necessary.
- Designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive training programs and materials that align with company goals and employee development needs including presentations, e-learning modules, case studies, and simulations.
- Evaluating training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics, adjusting content and delivery as needed.
- Delivering high-impact training sessions using a variety of facilitation techniques, ensuring active participation and skill acquisition.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content. Offering insights and recommendations on improving existing training programs and processes.
- Promoting the utilization of technical services to resolve business issues within the enterprise, agency, program area, division or product line.
- May be part of a re-engineering team and act as project manager in some cases.
- May participate in strategic planning processes for Information Technology Division, seeking opportunities to apply current and future service offerings to meet the needs of current and potential customers.

What You'll Need for Success:
- Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
- Academic work in related field

- Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
