Salary:

This role is typically filled with a starting salary of $28,366.

 

Role Overview:

This positions is an indispensible part of the TFA mission which is to provide timely, accurate, and verified reports with regard to the cash position of the Trust Fund for the State of Indiana while acting as a gatekeeper for Fund receipts and disbursements and maintaining exemplary levels of internal and external customer service. In this role, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience while completing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Confirm signatures and journal numbers on documetation regarding PeopleSoft entries.
  • Validate, record, and mail warrants for employer refunds and non-claimant proceeds.
  • Review and verify accounting transaction authorization are appropriately signed and dated.
  • Prepare daily paperwork for files.
  • Create all documentation and prepare all files for record retention under GRACC1.
  • Cross-train to cover Administrative Assistant to Tax Cheif duties.
     

About the Job:

As the Account Clerk, you will be responsible for a variety of important and complex clerical functions and responsibility for large sums of money and other valuables.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Maintain and certify accuracy of official agency financial records. 
  • Exercise limited purchasing and inventory control. 
  • Assist in preparation and control of agency budget. 
  • Receive, deposit, and distribute for monies, securities, or other valuables. 
  • Authorize payment of vouchers or prepare vouchers for director’s signature. 
  • Write checks, transmit payments, audit transactions, post and process encumbrances and expenditures, perform transactions utilizing the correct department forms, and record as needed. 
  • Check requisitions for quality, quantity, and price per Quantity Purchase Award contract. 
  • Calculate monthly profit-loss statement or make other computations and calculations of agency records. 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports. 
  • Negotiate settlement of accounts. 
  • Operate all types of office equipment and order equipment and repairs. 
  • Let and re-let leases and arrange auctions, sales, and receipt of bids

  • Ability to learn the operation of all kinds of office equipment. 
  • Ability to solve different problems, some of which may not have been previously encountered. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and to practice diplomacy, tact, and courtesy. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Aptitude for business mathematics and public relations. 
  • Ability to accurately handle money and other items of value.  
  • Eligible to be bonded
