Salary:

The starting salary for this position is $37,778 annually.

About the Job:

This position is an Auditor in the IV-D Audit Unit within the Financial Quality Assurance Division of the Department of Child Services. The employee is responsible for auditing and providing objective monitoring of expenditures of IV-D child support federal funds in the 92 Indiana counties. These federal funds are passed through the Child Support Bureau to the counties. The employee will be part of the agency’s Financial Quality Assurance Division and report to the Field Audit Supervisor and the Assistant Deputy Director.

A Day in the Life:

• Assist the Child Support Bureau in ensuring that the 320 county entities who receive federal IV-D
funds (1) understand the federal rules and regulations, (2) maintain compliance with appropriation
guidelines, and (3) maximize federal match associated with child support federal funding.
• Determine whether management's policies, procedures, and instructions and the federal regulations
are followed in a manner consistent with IV-D objectives.
• Identify anomalie and evaluate policies, procedures, and instructions to determine what changes
should occur to safeguard future federal IV-D funds.
• Report results of internal audit reviews and offer recommendations for required improvements.
• Generate reports for members of the Child Support Bureau management regarding recommended
actions.
• Educate county and internal agency staff on child support federal funding rules and processes,
including incentive funding rules and processes.
• Obtain and evaluate plans or actions taken to implement audit recommendations from internal or
external partners and recommend further plans or actions if appropriate.
• Review and document the adequacy of internal controls of areas under review.
• Communicate effectively with CSB Executive Staff as well as county officials who come from a variety
of backgrounds.

What We're Looking For:

  • At least four (4) years’ work experience required (eight (8) years’ work experience preferred) in accounting; auditing; or accredited college training in a related field.

What You'll Need for Success:

• Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations related to child support federal funding.
• Ability to apply the standards outlined in OMB A-133 Circulars.
• Understanding of the Child Support Bureau role and function within the Department of Child Services.
• Understanding of the county’s role as it relates to child support federal funding.
• Understanding of the scope of work to be performed, as well as timelines, goals, and objectives.
• Advanced analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to prepare meaningful, accurate, and concise audit reports that include accurate and factbased recommendations to resolve or reduce deficiencies or non-compliance.
• Ability to communicate effectively with representatives from other state agencies and county entities
in a cooperative and respectful manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
