Unpaid Internship:
The Indiana Department of Transportation's (INDOT) summer internship program is an unpaid summer internship that lasts approximately 3.5 months.
About the Job:
This position will serve as an Intern for the Facilities Management Division of the Indiana Department of Transportation. The Intern will be responsible for a variety of division projects and support. The objective of the position is to provide a valuable learning experience for the intern, as well as to assist the agency in completing their assignments and responsibilities. The Intern will report to the statewide Facilities’ Operations Analyst.
A Day in the Life:
- The Facilities Management Intern will work with central office staff as well as district facilities teams to coordinate the review and data validation of the department’s building inventory.
- Additionally, the position will assist with contract compliance review for the state’s rest area and welcome center portfolio.
- Other duties as assigned
What You'll Need for Success:
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Affairs/Administration, Facilities Management, Engineering or related field
- Relevant work experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of the mission and role of INDOT
- Basic understanding of state policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Knowledge of state government structure, administrative procedures, and the legislative process
- Ability to research, draft, and edit data and reports
- Analytical skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects
- Ability to operate computer tools
- Good research and writing skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills suitable for a wide variety of contacts
- Confidence and ability to learn on the job and adapt quickly to changing circumstances
