About the Job:

As an Executive Administrative Assistant to the Commissioner, you will be involved with a variety of administrative duties within a state agency involving a high degree of discretion in interpretation, application and execution of agency department policies and programs.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Provide executive leadership with extensive and continuous calendar management, travel management, expense management, detailed meeting plan management and other executive support;
  • Arrange on- and off- site meetings, events, appointments & travel for departmental leadership with supporting materials as needed;
  • Ensure that executive leadership is informed of priorities, deadline and challenges;
  • Independently perform special projects that require a combined knowledge of administrative needs and technical operations;
  • Respond to a wide variety of request for information, policies and procedure, and executive action.   Analyze needs and problems and determine approach and priority.   This requests will come from different groups including legislators, external organizations and individuals and within the organizations;
  • Utilize efficient time management with the nuances of a complex administrative assistance at the executive level;
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision;
  • Available for rate yet necessary off-hour urgent business related tasks (evenings and weekends);
  • Other duties as required.

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and operate with a high sense of urgency;
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate initiative, professionalism, poise and flexibility and work with an environment of frequent interruptions, conflicting priorities’ and varying workloads;
  • Ability to quickly learn departmental charge and programs and quickly gain knowledge of state government administrative polices, programs and structures;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with internal and external constituents;
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills, demonstrated history of successfully managing multiple concurrent initiatives and maintaining one’s own workflow;
  • Ability to coordinate and motivate diverse, professional and support personnel;
  • Ability to be creative in developing alternatives to meet the organizations’ needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
