Summary/Objective:

Serves as a hazardous waste compliance inspector. This position is responsible for providing technical and regulatory guidance to a variety of entities including the public, the regulated community, and other programs. Acts as a program expert in areas such as RCRA hazardous waste management and used oil regulations. Responsible for conducting routine field inspections.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this roles are as follows:

  • Interprets laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to hazardous and solid waste issues.
  • This position involves a considerable amount of time in the field conducting compliance inspections at a variety of commercial and industrial facilities. Inspections are extensively documented.
  • The inspector must be able to work independently and demonstrate good decisionmaking and interpersonal skills.
  • The inspector must be able to support inspection findings that may be subject to administrative, civil, and criminal legal proceedings.

Requirements:
  • A bachelors degree in a relevent field. 
  • Specialized experience in hazardous and industrial waste issues. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of industrial waste management and ability to apply these principles as they relate to the program areas.  
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
