Salary:

 

This position traditionally starts at $25,766 per year and may be commensurate with education and work experience.

About the Job:

This position will assist with State Level Registration of Birth and Death Records for events that occurred in Indiana and in other states for residents of Indiana. Responsibilities will include data entry and error corrections/amends of birth records. Processing and mailing birth certificates, and customer service activities including phone calling, e-mails, and letters to the customers, various facilities such as hospitals and local health departments

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows: 

  • Amending/Correcting birth certificates from the public and local health departments. Researching birth information using 16mm film, entering back data entry in the birth/death Vital Records Registration system DRIVE.
  • Data enter vital information pertaining to Birth and /or Death records
  • Proofread, verify for accuracy, and conduct other reviews for compliance with form, content, and procedures
  • Answer inquiries over the telephone and in person concerning vital records
  • Receives correspondence, determines appropriate action, and compose replies

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Considerable knowledge of clerical procedures involved in the gathering and compiling vital statistical data.
  • Thorough knowledge of departmental functions and the organization of the agency
  • Complete knowledge of clerical procedures used in performing the assembly and dissemination of vital information. The work requires the application of agency rules, regulations and established procedures ot complete standardized operations
  • ability to be tactful when dealing with visitors and answering telephone calls
