Salary:
The starting salary for this position is $13.21 hourly

 

Role Overview:

The Legal Intern assists attorneys with a diverse array of legal topics, including but not limited to discovery, employment law, federal litigation, expungement review, trial preparation, legal research, administrative law, administrative rulemaking, and writing memorandums. 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of the role are as follows:

•    Review case law 
•    Conduct legal research
•    Attend administrative law hearings
•    Review and complete discovery 
•    Participate in relevant meetings 
•    Review and understand agency administrative law and rules
•    Work as a team player with other members of the legal team
•    Other duties as determined by supervisor 
•    Ability to work at least 7.5 hours per week in an office setting (computer and desk space provided)

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Must be in law school, preference to 2L and 3L students 
  • Ability to think quickly
  • Ability to analyze complex legal concepts 
  • Ability to work alone or with a team
  • One semester of legal writing and research is required
  • Preference to students with background in child welfare
  • Preference to students with interest in government work 
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft programs, including Teams.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
