Role Overview:
Indiana State Museum is seeking candidates for the holiday experience, Celebration Crossing. During Celebration Crossing, visitors will get to experience the holiday season through whimsical characters, fun activities, visits with Santa, a magical train ride and so much more!
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.73/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Celebration Crossing (CCX) Specialists work within the Celebration Crossing holiday experience to engage and interact with visitors, assist with facilitation of Celebration Crossing programming, respond to visitor questions and concerns, and monitor experience components. The CCX Specialist will enhance visitor experience through multiple positions including Santa’s House Photographer, Santa House Manager, Santa’s Front Yard Facilitator, Snowfall Express Line Facilitator, and Snowfall Express Conductor.
Responsibilities Include:
Visitor Engagement
Enhance the visitor experience in Celebration Crossing by engaging and interacting with visitors, assisting with visitor questions and concerns, and facilitating daily programs
Implement scheduled and spontaneous activities and programs within Celebration Crossing for diverse audiences including children, families, and adults
Provide excellent customer service by greeting each visitor, answering questions, and being present within the space.
Work with and assist museum volunteers as needed
Other duties as assigned
Museum operations
Facilitate Celebration Crossing experiences and monitor interactive components and manipulatives
Communicate visitor issues and concerns to security and other staff as appropriate
Support Visitor Services in providing a welcoming and festive environment for all museum visitors
Sanitize exhibit and public spaces daily
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred; current high school junior or senior welcome to apply
Background in education, theater, and/or customer service preferred
Must have experience in customer service or hospitality industries
Must be comfortable working independently and exhibit initiative
Good communication skills, enthusiasm and collaborative work ethic required
Ability to maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
Schedule Requirements:
Daily schedule is 8:30/9:30AM – 5:30PM with shifts rotating between positions, some early and late hours required for special events. Weekends required.
Position begins November and ends the first week of January 2025. This is a seasonal, temporary intermittent position.
$16.73 per hour, up to 37.5 hrs/week

Santa’s Front Yard Facilitator
Facilitate visitor experience in the front yard and reindeer barn
Maintain and facilitate front yard activities
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the space
Santa’s House Manager
Assist with the Santa experience including Santa breaks, Santa photos, etc.
Assist with flow of traffic and crowd control for Santa’s house and queue line
Assist in facilitating photography experience
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the space
Santa’s House Photographer
Operate photography station
Assist with posing and set up of family’s photo with Santa
Produce quality photographs of children and families visiting Santa
Be knowledgeable about photo package options
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the space
Snowfall Express Line Facilitator
Support a fun visitor experience within the Snowfall express queue line space
Manage line, children’s activities, and atmosphere
Assist with wayfinding and crowd control
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the space
Snowfall Express Conductor
Assist with visitor pre-boarding of train
Assist visitors in loading and unloading the train including ADA accessible train car
Hand out train tickets and stamp visitor train tickets
Monitor train queue line and space
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the space
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
