Hire Salary:

The minimum starting salary for this position is $50,544.

 

About the Department of Child Services:

DCS protects children who are victims of abuse or neglect and strengthens families through services that focus on family support and preservation. The Department also administers child support, child protection, adoption and foster care throughout the state of Indiana.

About the Job:

As a member of Indiana's Department of Child Services IT Support staff, the employee's role is to support DCS in day to day IT operations.  The position is located in Marion County and must provide high quality and high availability customer service to staff throughout the state of Indiana.  The Business Systems Consultant Senior for the DCS position will report to the Business Systems Consultant Manger.  Activities will include telecommunications support, computer hardware and software support, data security, assessing user technical needs, and related IT support functions. 

A Day in the Life:

•    Work at the highest level of information systems analysis while considering the technical and/or business implications of the application of technology and/or improve processes to the current and future business environment
•    Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of user needs and business systems and industry requirements
•    Lead research and analysis for identified performance improvement projects
•    Manages the expectations of customers, stakeholders, peers, vendors and management
•    Prioritize information technology requests and ensure they fit into the overall business plan for the Agency 
•    Promotes the utilization of technical services to resolve business issues
•    Creates process change through the integration of new processes with existing ones and communication of changes to impacted Business Systems teams
•    Designs or changes procedures to resolve issues with telecommunication equipment or operations
•    Facilitates the delivery of technical business solutions and products to customers
•    Analyze business needs and create and/or review drafts of documentation and develop written procedures and guidelines for operations 
•    Advises users through training and development of information guidelines and other communication resources 
•    Acts as a liaison between the Indiana Office of Technology and DCS users
•    Keeps abreast of constantly changing information technologies
•    Perform related duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

Seven (7) years Information Technology work experience and/or Business Process Analysis work experience or accredited college training in a related field.  Three Years experience as a Business Systems Consultant Intermediate may substitute for education.

What You'll Need for Success:

•    Thorough knowledge of DCS business systems and requirements
•    Thorough knowledge of technical problems and solutions for DCS current and future business environment
•    Advanced knowledge of project management theories and ability to apply that knowledge
•    Ability to understand telecommunication systems, to include Nortel PBX and Cisco IP telephony
•    Working knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply state policies and rules regarding IT 
•    Ability to analyze IT needs and develop IT plans to meet identified priorities 
•    Ability to analyze and troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems and determine the most appropriate method of resolving these issues 
•    Ability to work with staff and users to get them to work together all for a common goal 
•    Be able to communicate with staff and users on technical and nontechnical issues both orally and in writing 
•    To keep up with current technologies and how to apply those technologies throughout the Agency 
•    Strong problem solving skills and ability to anticipate the needs of stakeholders
•    Ability to translate technical and operational data into meaningful insights
•    Ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
